Day 9 - layover in Phoenix

Yesterday everyone rolled in by mid-afternoon to the hostel near downtown Phoenix. We did laundry, showered and worked on bikes. A photo shows Ken with his Wisconsin bike shirt on the clothesline. An hour is sufficient for clothes to dry in the heat and low humidity.
Andre grilled brats and sausages in the hostel front yard, and Mitch and Julie made salad and set out odds and ends from earlier dinners. We chilled out as the sun set and it cooled off. In the first photo are (back) Dick, Rhodri, Mitch, Bob Plant, (front) Bob G and Flynn. In the second photo are Jerry, Terry, Andre, Ken, Bruce and Julie. (Bob Pedersen had stepped away; Carol and Linda are staying elsewhere tonight.). Flynn found an acoustic guitar and treated us to some fine tunes.
Today several of the group rode to a local bike shop. Others shipped unnecessary gear home, worked on bikes, visited the Desert Botanical Garden or rested. Bob Plant, Ken and I took a bus to a spring training baseball game between the Anaheim Angels and the Milwaukee Brewers. It was fun to relax in the sun and watch the Brewers' classic sausage race (see photos). As a bonus. Ken got an autograph from Robin Yount, the former Brewers star.
Walking back we encountered an art installation of bicycles (very appropriate!) When we returned to the hostel, Jerry and Andre were demonstrating fine form playing darts.
