Day 1 - San Diego to Alpine

A great start! Mitch served up quiche (see photo) for breakfast in addition to pancakes, cereal, yogurt and bagels. He set the bar high. Weather was sunny, no clouds and no headwind. Got up to 70 degrees by afternoon. We had a steady uphill of 4-6% grade in the afternoon. Several of us stopped in the town of Alpine for a bottle of local brew, which was our reward when we reached the campground. Dinner was at the casino a mile from here. Prime rib rounded out the day.
