The Texas Cyclist's Lament

Many of you have heard us discuss (or cuss!) the rough Texas pavement called "chip seal". A few days ago I sang this little song for our group called the Texas Cyclist's Lament set to the tune of "The Streets of Laredo.

As I rode down the long roads of Texas,
The long roads of Texas so windy and hot;
I spied some smooth pavement out off in the distance,
Some pavement as smooth as my sweet darlin's cheek.
But my water is gone and my food it's a dwind'lin.
My mind's playing tricks and my eyes see'in things.
I'm stuck on this chip seal, it's really a raw deal.
The chip seal of Texas will be my demise.
